What is Brow Lamination?

I’m sure you’ve heard of brow lamination by now. The fluffy, highly styled brows are everywhere it seems, but what IS brow lamination, really, and do they have to look that … manicured?

Things to Consider:

What is it?

Brow lamination is a process where we redirect the hairs of the brow to help style, straighten and fluff up the brow hairs. We use a two step cream process to open the cuticle of the brow hair and straighten to your desired style, then close down the cuticle to lock in the style. We use a nourishing deep conditioning treatment during the second step (or during tinting, if you have that done) that helps to keep your brows moisturized and healthy. The whole process takes around 45 minutes and includes a brow tint if desired.

Will brow lamination work for me?

Do you have unruly brows that you struggle to style? Do your brows grow in a different direction than you’d like (such as downward or upward)? Are your brows super curly and never want to cooperate with you? Do you have lots of brow hairs, but maybe a few thinner spots that you’d like to redirect? If so, you’re a great candidate for brow laminations.

What style options are there?

Brow laminations styles are dependent upon a few things: how full your brows are, the texture of your brows ( curly vs straight), and your personal style. Some people prefer what can be referred to as Instagram brows: super straight, full looking nearly straight up brows. These are highly manicured brows. Others prefer to just lift them a touch (maybe to cover a spot where hair won’t grow) while others still want hairs to basically look like their natural style just easier to style (tame down the chaos).

Does it hurt?

No, it doesn’t. There is always the possibility of allergic reaction or irritation of the skin, however, typically, there are no issues with this service. The products we use are formulated for this exact purpose. If you have any known allergies or sensitivities, please advise your service provider as soon as possible so we can advise if this service is a good fit for you.

What do I need to do to prep before a brow lamination?

Please cease using any retinols and exfoliants for three days before and three days after your service. These products tend to make the skin more reactive to other products or services. With brow laminations, brow waxes should be completed at least 4 days prior to your brow lamination service. Waxing makes the skin extra sensitive so we don’t want to apply chemicals to already compromised skin. If waxing has not been done prior, tweezing can be completed with the service for an additional charge.

What is the aftercare for brow laminations?

Brow laminations, much like lash lifts, require very little maintenance. You will want to keep your brows dry and untouched for 24 hours following your service. We know you want to feel them, but wait until tomorrow! You will also want to avoid any brow growth serums for 8 weeks following your service to get the most longevity out of your Brow Lamination. You can use a nourishing oil on them after 24 hours if desired.

How long do they last?

Brow laminations last from 6-8 weeks. You may want to comb them through with a clean spoolie (similar to a mascara wand) each morning to retain the style we have created. Beyond that, you’ll have bangin’ brows with very little effort. We recommend having a brow lamination service every 2-3 months depending on your hair growth.
